President's Corner
It’s been a while but we have plenty of new things to celebrate. First I would like to thank all those involved in creating our new jersey design and bringing it into reality. We have something we can be really proud of; the comments have been very positive from outside of the club. Amber got the ball rolling, the design committee came up with a rough overall design and Jerry Mills finalized those ideas. Great teamwork from start to finish even though the art needed time to germinate.
Second big point of news is the restarting of the Cross Florida Ride after a 6 year absence. With tremendous support from club volunteers we were able to pull this serious challenge off without a hitch. I personally look forward to next year’s ride and growing it to previous levels. Again thank you to everyone that helped make the ride a success.
Our club rides have grown a great deal over the last year and with that new concerns have arisen. First and foremost we must be vigilant about the road rules and staying safe as new riders join us. This column doesn’t give enough space to discuss all the details but the website will soon be updated with some tips and rules we should keep in mind. If you have any questions or ideas please let me know. Also as the speed and size of the rides has increased so has the need to split the rides into 2 groups; for safety’s sake and to keep riders of similar ability together. So let’s try in the coming months to split our rides into 2 cohesive groups depending on your ability. Rather than wear yourself out and end up alone when the pace gets too high, separate from the faster group earlier and ride together with a second group. Also encourage like minded riders to come out and grow this “20 'n plenty ” group (coined by Amber of course).
Take Care,
