President's Corner
February, a month usually notable mostly for its brevity, provided us with some extraordinary events this year—a lunar
eclipse, a leap day, a full panoply of weather including a local tornado and temperatures ranging from the 80’s to freezing,
the annual attack of the gorging and pooping robins on their way north, a surfeit of politics, including two opportunities to
exercise our suffrage rights—did you vote? I am so ready for March!
Saturday rides are continuing their popularity and many of our club members are participating in the 2008 time trials in
Brevard and Orlando, as well as out-of-the-area century rides.
Don’t forget to email event chairman Joe Grinarml to be put on the volunteer list for the 2008 Intracoastal Waterway
Century, the last Sunday in October. Volunteers have the most fun! (Plus they get free t-shirts and a scrumptious thankyou
dinner.)
In the meantime, keep your eyes on the road and your feet on the pedals!
Keep on rollin’,
Amber

27th Annual TOSRV South
April 5-6 , 2008
Quincy, FL
Tour of Springtime Rural Vistas.
The Capital City Cyclists are making changes to the 2008 TOSRV routes and destination. In conjunction with Atomic Racing and the Big Bend Economic Council, TOSRV will be included as a separate cycling event in a new regional cycling festival tentatively called the "Tour de Big Bend."
The 2008 TOSRV Date is April 12-13th. Rather than go to Albany, new routes will meander throughout the Big Bend region. On Day 1 we will begin in the Quincy area. The century route will be a northern loop that returns back to Quincy. Day 2 will begin in downtown Tallahassee. The century route will lead to vistas in the flatter regions south of Tallahassee. The 2-day, 200-mile routes should include historic towns, the Jim Woodruff Dam, Torreya State Park, Wakulla State Park, Natural Bridge State Park, St Mark's rails to trails, and our canopy roads.
The highlight of the festival weekend will take place downtown Tallahassee on Saturday night. Atomic Racing will be hosting three main event criterium races for all to see. This very exciting, spectator friendly race will be downtown, right under the lights.
Hotel reservations for Saturday, April 12th at any downtown Tallahassee location is advised. The Big Bend cycling festivities will begin downtown at approximately 5 p.m. The Sunday, Day 2 start of TOSRV will also be at a downtown location.
