Last year the Spacecoast Freewheelers took back the Cross Florida after a 6 year absence and we're really excited about 2010. So all you endurance riders mark your calendars for this year's Cross Florida. It will take place on May 2, 2010 (Sunday) starting at 6:30am from Alan Shepard Park at the eastern terminus of SR-520 in Cocoa Beach, FL.
Much like last year please be prepared because this won't be like your typical century ride. There will be minimal support with only 4 unmanned SAG stops that will stock an energy drink and water. You will need to depend on convenience stores along the route for most of your food and hydration. Along with your cue sheets and maps we will provide a list of convenience stores located along the route so you can plan your stops accordingly.
Remember this is not a race and will not be timed. The route will be open to traffic and riders must obey all traffic laws. We want to continue a good reputation with residents of the communities we pass through and with the Police so please be courteous and above all ride safe.
Personal SAG Vehicle Policy
One major change from last year is that we will insist all riders that have their own personal SAG vehicle supporting them during the ride have that SAG vehicle registered and also sign and agree to a set of rules.
NO handing out bottles or food on the move.
NO driving slowly ahead, behind or aside of the group, instead please drive ahead and wait.
As SAG drivers please make use of SAG sites and convenience stores to meet up with your riders.
Please consider alternate routes to help alleviate traffic.
If you as the rider have a problem then use your phone and call your SAG vehicle or the SAG support provided by the Spacecoast Freewheelers.
Please download, print and sign this agreement and hand it in during registration. If for whatever reason you cannot accept these rules or break them during the ride we will refuse your participation in this event. Please understand we are doing this to ensure the safety of all the riders participating and by no means want to make your ride more difficult. We think the rules aren't at all burdensome and will make for less traffic around the riders and fewer angry motorists directing their anger towards the riders.
Ride time and cutoffs
Due to safety concerns and our finish location being in a public park all riders must complete the ride before sunset. Which on May 2nd, 2010 in Weeki Wachee Gardens will be at 8:05PM. This gives riders 13.5 hours to complete the Cross Florida Ride. Our SAG vehicles will be enforcing the following cutoff points and times.
If you don't make these cutoffs you will be SAGed to the finish line in one of our SAG vehicles.
Ride Fee (and what you get for it)
The event fee will be $45. Following is a list of what the Spacecoast Freewheelers will provide for your entry fee.
Breakfast at ride start.

We will be traveling a route south of the metro Orlando area, then through hilly Pasco county and finishing up at beautiful Linda Pedersen Park on the Gulf coast. All SAG support will end at 7:30pm, if you are unable to finish before then you must be SAGed to the finish.
Packet pickup and registration will begin at 1:00pm until 5:00pm on Saturday (May 1) at the Doubletree Hotel in Cocoa Beach. Packet pickup will begin again on Sunday (May 2) at 5:30am in Alan Shepard Park; located at 211 E Cocoa Beach Cswy in Cocoa Beach. There will be NO 'day of' registration at this event. We will be starting at 6:30am approximately the first light in the morning.
